Abstract: Natural Language Processing: Introduction and Ongoing Research Projects
Natural language processing is a subfield of artificial intelligence that aims at making computers understand language as generated by humans. After a brief introduction to the field and discussing some of the main challenges, I will present ongoing research projects. These projects include fundamental research and applications, for example, linking events and their arguments, understanding negation, and interpreting answers to yes-no questions. I will close the talk discussing what I believe are unsolved problems, even for the latests and greatest models.
